The Gateway to Education Materials (GEM) chooses as a featured collection in October 2004

A U.S. Department of Education initiative, The Gateway to Educational Materials (GEM) is a digital library offering educators access to Internet-based lesson plans, instructional units and other educational materials. GEM’s database includes collections of materials that are already available on various federal, state, university, non-profit, and commercial Internet sites. GEM, founded in 1996, is a nonprofit consortium membership organization that hopes to become the world’s leading metadata cooperative.
